Family Love in Beaverton, OR

Hi everyone...Notes from Michele
Thursday I flew up to Portland to visit my oldest daughter Meghan, son-in-law and grandson Brannon to do some babysitting, enjoy some shopping, winetasting and take in one of my favorite cities and some family love.
So shopping Thursday...check.  Winetasting Friday...check.  Now today it's some Mimi time with my grandson.

One of my favorite stores in the world, Anthropologie was a must stop in the Pearl Distric amongst others.  Friday was our wintetasting adventure which included my sister-in-law, Tricia.  Beautiful day, great wines (I'm not cheating on California wines but there are some nice Oregon pinots, even though you didn't hear that from me Oregon family!!!)

Aahh design paradise, please enter here.

Love their displays...

Anthropologie's front window is now my phone wallpaper.

Cute bowls

Two of my favorite design books

Love this bedroom display

Bathroom supplies anyone?

Now how about some Oregon wine from the North Willamette Valley,
starting at Ponzi Winery

Thank you...don't mind if we do.

Meghan and Tricia at Sokol Blosser.

Some very creative and talented people using winebarrels for more than just wine

Are these not awesome?
I want this in my kitchen...

Some flowers and herbs presented beautifully

Or any other beds with your shoes on ..

All in all, an awesome day in beautiful wine country.  Today a trip to the Beaverton Farmer's Mkt. (huge and delicious), painting plates at CeramCafe and hanging out.

And here's what you do when you're nine and bored at Ikea!
Love you B :)

Nothing Says Summer Like Wicker

One of my favorite new obsessions is a web site named Pinterest.  At this site you can see fabulous pictures in just about every category from hilarious graphics to the best looking food you've ever seen.  Kind of like flickr, Stumble, etc. It's a collection of passions for DIYers, foodies, graphic artists, fashionistas, you name it.  You can add your own pics or use pics already "pinned"; credit is given to the original author when a photo is "repinned" and you can save to your favorites, creating your own boards and follow others on Pinterest.  You can create your own inspiration boards for projects, events, whatever you can dream up.

www.potterybarn.com

Click here to see my board for one of my favorite summer looks...wicker.  It is a classic; vintage or modern, white, brown or bold color splashes.  Pair it with any color in the rainbow or neutrals to fit your own style.

If you are so inclined, check out Pinterest but don't say I didn't warn you when you're supposed to be getting dinner on the table and you are looking at all the gorgeous pictures and crazy inspiration from some extremely talented people out there!

DIY: Linda's Summertime Front Door Wreath

Summer is here...Yay! And I needed a change of season for my double front doors.  The outside of my home has an Asian flare so I decided to create a wreath that expresses that mood.

I began with a premade moss wreath, reindeer moss, some succulents (not the real kind), and a mossy branch complete with butterflies already attached.

I added some succulents to the center of the wreath...

Tucking in reindeer moss into the crevices of the moss add another dimension and brightens up the wreath with the contrasting greens.

Time to add the butterfly branch, snipped and positioned onto the wreath...

Finished wreath.  Now let's go hang them on my front doors!

Voila!  A finishing touch to the red front doors.

So what kind of summer wreath is on your front door?

Easy Table Decor For The 4th!

Happy Birthday America!  Here are some pics from a photo shoot we did earlier in the week (thankfully before our little rain storm).

For an alfresco get together we used things we already had like this star table cloth, the red chargers and white plates.

Adding some blue salad plates from my cabinet, Linda's napkins, tulle and ribbon...

Before moving the table outside, we created our patriotic focal point.

Favors for each place setting...created from some dollar store finds.

How cute are these sunglasses

Pinwheel Centerpiece

This is a dollar store find and dresses up the back of your chair.

Our finished table with favors for guests and ready for some patriotic partying!

Have a safe and happy 4th everyone!
